Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 11/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A 1019 hPa high pressure system centred over Bass Strait will move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea by Tuesday afternoon. A trough of low pressure will reach the far west late Tuesday evening then move over the west and south during Wednesday and over the northeast on Thursday. A high pressure ridge will move over the south during Thursday and Friday, then move eastwards on Saturday. A low pressure trough will move over the west on Sunday then over remaining parts on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms developing in the far west and far northeast during the afternoon and evening. Hot to very hot throughout, with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds, fresh at times in the far west.Wednesday 13 DecemberA slight to medium chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms developing west of about Ceduna to Ernabella/Pukatja in the afternoon, increasing to a moderate to high chance of showers west of about Nullarbor. A slight to medium chance of showers over remaining parts southwest of a line Tarcoola to Mt Gambier. Hot to very hot with freshening northerly winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change moving across the west and south during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 14 DecemberA slight to medium chance of showers south of about Keith to Adelaide to Ceduna, mostly during the morning. A slight to medium chance of showers developing north of a line near Renmark to Coober Pedy with possible isolated thunderstorms developing over the Flinders district, south of the North East Pastoral and in the far north during the afternoon. Hot to very hot in the far northeast with moderate northwesterly winds with milder, moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Friday 15 December
A slight chance of afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms north of about Marree to Marla. Mild to warm about southern coasts grading to hot inland and very hot in the far northeast. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday will be generally less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 10 mm with thunderstorms.
Saturday until MondayA slight chance of showers about the south of the Lower South East on Saturday and in the far north of the State on Sunday. A slight to medium chance of showers developing west of about Mt Gambier to Cleve to Ernabella/Pukatja on Sunday, extending over remaining parts on Monday and also clearing in the west. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds turning northeasterly on Sunday and freshening in the west ahead of a southerly change extending over western parts Sunday afternoon and evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033

BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
This will occur between 17:00 and 21:00 (ACDT).
Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
All South Australian forecast and warning services will continue to be monitored and updated through back up arrangements.
