Red Lentil Exports Plunge

PANAMA - Nov 3/17 - SNS -- Canada started the 2017-18 marketing year with radically different performances by red and green lentils.

While shipments of green are up from the first two months of the 2016-17 marketing campaign, exports of red lentils are down sharply, plunging from almost 276,000 metric tons (MT) to just over 120,000.

Red lentil shipments to all major destinations are down from this time last year, despite a faster harvest and good stock levels in the export pipeline. Shipments to all destinations on the Indian subcontinent are down, reflecting an improved rabi season pulse harvest in the region.
