Softer Finish For Birdseeds

PANAMA - Nov 2/17 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week on a generally softer note against improved supplies in domestic and export pipelines.

Canada's harvest is complete and the sunflower harvest in the United States is now past the halfway point, with the week starting with 664,000 acres harvested, representing 53% of total area. This is expected to jump to 75% complete in Monday's harvest progress report.

"Sunflower prices at the crush plants ended the week mixed at down 35 to up 20 cents," noted the U.S. based National Sunflower Association. "Sufficient seed supplies in the pipeline has led to some nearby resistance for any significant rally in sunflower prices.
