High Quality Mustard Crop

PANAMA - Oct 27/17 - SNS -- Mustard seed production in Canada could be closer to 133,000 metric tons (MT) than Statistics Canada's initial forecast of a 114,900 MT crop.

In its final crop progress report, Saskatchewan Agriculture estimated this year's average yield for all classes of mustard seed in the province is 746 pounds per acre, down from 917 pounds last year and the recent 10 year average of 1,010.

In the same report, the provincial agriculture department said 87% of the crop will likely grade No 1 Canada and the balance No 2 Canada. Grades were not broken down by class.
