MELBOURNE - Oct 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea. A trough of low pressure over the northeast will clear the State overnight. A high pressure system south of WA will be centred south of the Bight late this evening, then remain near stationary for the following few days. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA slight to medium chance of showers and isolated thunderstorm northeast of about Woomera to Renmark, increasing to a high chance locally in some parts near the eastern border region, gradually contracting to the far northeast. Light to moderate northeasterly winds in the far northeast, moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds over the remainder.Friday 20 OctoberSlight to medium chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast, increasing to a high chance in the afternoon, then clearing by evening. Cool near the coast grading to mild to warm inland, and warm to hot in the north. Moderate southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast with afternoon and early evening sea breezes.Saturday 21 OctoberFine apart from a slight to medium chance of showers about the Lower South East coastal areas. Cool to mild near southern coasts grading to warm in the north and west. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast with afternoon and early evening sea breezes.Sunday 22 OctoberFine apart from a slight to medium chance of showers about southern coasts and ranges and the Lower South East district, more likely about the Lower South East coast. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 23 October Fine apart from a slight to medium chance of showers about southern coasts and ranges and the Lower South East coast. Possible morning fog patches over Eyre Peninsula. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north and west. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds Cumulative rainfall totals up until midnight Monday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5 mm over the Lower South East coast and in the northeast of the State. Local falls of 5 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms in the northeast. Tuesday until ThursdayThe chance of showers developing over the west of the State and southern coasts on Tuesday, then over parts southeast of about Elliston to Port Augusta to Broken Hill on Wednesday, more likely about the southeast districts, then contracting to southern coasts and ranges on Thursday. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west.
