MELBOURNE - Oct 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front and associated trough over southwest Victoria will move eastwards across the State today, reaching central districts during the late afternoon but will not clear the far northeast until early Friday. A slow moving high pressure system will then become established over the Bight on Friday and extend a ridge across Victoria over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers and local thunderstorms extending throughout during the morning then clearing over western and central parts during the late afternoon and evening. Severe thunderstorms possible over north central and northeast Victoria. Showers tending to rain areas over the northeast with heavy falls developing across the northeast ranges. Mild to warm with moderate northerly winds, fresh at times in the south, shifting cooler southwesterly over western districts during the late morning, central districts during the late afternoon and eastern districts at night.Friday 20 OctoberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the far east clearing during the early morning. Isolated showers across the south, mainly during the morning. Cool and partly cloudy across the south, milder and mostly sunny over the north with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Saturday 21 OctoberMostly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, generally near the coast. Dry and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with light moderate south to southwesterly winds.Sunday 22 OctoberMostly cloudy in the south with isolated showers. Dry and partly cloudy in the north.
