MELBOURNE - Oct 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea. A trough of low pressure over the west and south of the State will move over remaining parts on Thursday. A new high pressure system will move in south of the Bight late Thursday, then remain near stationary for the following few days. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA slight to medium chance of showers over most parts of the State, apart from some areas in the far north and about western coastal areas, increasing to a high chance locally in some parts of the central and eastern districts. A high to very high chance of rain about the southeast districts in the early morning. Isolated thunderstorms in the west, most likely in the morning, then developing about the northern agricultural area and pastoral districts during the afternoon then contracting northeastwards. Fresh south to southwesterly winds in the west and south gradually extending throughout. Mild near the coast, grading to hot in the northeast.Friday 20 OctoberSlight to medium chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast, clearing by evening. Cool near the coast grading to mild to warm inland, and warm to hot in the north. Moderate southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast with afternoon and early evening sea breezes.Saturday 21 OctoberFine apart from a slight chance of a shower about the Lower South East coast. Cool to mild near southern coasts grading to warm in the north and west. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast with afternoon and early evening sea breezes.Sunday 22 October Fine apart from a slight chance of showers about southern coasts the Lower South East district. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals up until midnight Sunday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5 mm over the southeastern districts and to 5 to 10 mm about the Lower South East. Local falls of 5 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms. Monday until WednesdayA slight chance of showers about the Lower South East coast on Monday, then developing over the west of the State and southern coasts on Tuesday. Showers possible over parts south of about Ceduna to Coober Pedy to Broken Hill on Wednesday, more likely about the Lower South East. Cool to mild in the south, grading to hot in the north and west.
