MELBOURNE - Oct 18/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea with a ridge to the west is very slowly moving east and a low pressure trough lies off the New South Wales north coast. A coastal trough in the north will weaken today as the high moves further east and a cold front approaches from the west. The front is expected to cross the state during Thursday and Friday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMedium to high chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. slight chance in the northern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Daytime temperatures below average on the north coast and above averages in the remainder. North to northeasterly winds.Thursday 19 OctoberRain developing in the western half, with thunderstorms likely in the southwest. Medium chance of morning showers on the north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Above average daytime temperatures. Northeast to northwesterly winds, turning southerly in the west and southeast.Friday 20 OctoberRain in most districts except the far southwest, extending northeastwards and clearing from the southwest during the day. The chance of thunderstorms in the central and northern inland. Below average daytime temperatures. South to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 21 OctoberShowers in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny in the remainder. Daytime temperatures mostly below average.
