MELBOURNE - Sep 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the state's west is extending a ridge towards the coast. This will promote generally fine conditions during today, after a cool start. By Thursday the high is expected to be over the northern Tasman Sea, where it should remain slow-moving for the following few days. This pattern will lead to increasingly warm daytime temperatures across the region during the second half of the week, as hot air is drawn down from central Australia. A weak trough is expected to move into southern and western districts later Thursday and Friday, but will have little impact on the weather. The next significant cool change is forecast to arrive later on the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Fine and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of an early shower about central parts of the coast. Areas of morning frost about the ranges, and adjacent slopes in the south. Daytime temperatures near average along the coast, and slightly above average across most of the inland. Mainly light and variable winds, with northeasterly afternoon seabreezes developing along the coast. Thursday 21 September Fine and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of a late shower near the Victorian border. Early frost patches on the tablelands. Daytime temperatures well above average throughout, most notably in the southwest. Warm north to northwesterly winds inland, tending fresh northeasterly along the coast. A late southerly change in the far southwest. Friday 22 September Fine and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms in the northeast. Daytime temperatures well above average throughout. Hot west to northwesterly winds across most of the inland, though light and variable in the southwest. Fresh northeasterly winds along the coast. Saturday 23 September Fine apart from the chance of an afternoons shower near the Victorian border, and on the far north coast. Mostly sunny. Daytime temperatures well above average throughout. Hot west to northwesterly winds inland, becoming fresh and gusty in the west during the afternoon. Very warm north to northeasterly winds near the coast. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031 Notice Board Twitter Media releases Severe Weather Update videos AskBOM videos Marketing Local Infomation Cobar weather Lord Howe Island weather Moree Norfolk Island weather Wagga Wagga weather Other Information Sydney - Local Forecast Areas Alpine - Local Forecast Areas Canberra Alpine - Local Forecast Areas Canberra - Local Forecast Areas Fire Weather Forecast Areas Marine Reference Points Marine Weather Knowledge Centre Air pollution services for Sydney About Weather Forecast Services Severe Weather Knowledge Centre Warnings Water Climate Environment Tropical Cyclones Tsunami Warning Centre Agriculture - Water and the Land Marine & Ocean UV & Sun Protection Rainfall & River Conditions Graphical Views Radar Maps Rainfall Forecasts Seasonal Outlooks Climate Variability & Change Climate Data Online Seasonal Streamflow Forecasts Water Storage MetEye™ National Weather Services Aviation Weather Services Defence Services Space Weather Services Registered User Services Industry Solutions Supplier Entry Point Facebook Twitter Youtube Blog Google+ Careers Sitemap Feedback Freedom of Information Indigenous Weather Knowledge Glossary This page was created at 02:45 on Wednesday 20 September 2017 (GMT) © Copyright Commonwealth of Australia 2017, Bureau of Meteorology (ABN 92 637 533 532) | Disclaimer | Privacy | Accessibility
