Growers Reluctantly Sell Peas

PANAMA - Sep 17/17 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week little changed against on ongoing opening season export movement, but some participants were concerned about the relatively slow start to Canada's bulk export campaign.

As of September 10, Canadian bulk loadings for export were down 310,000 metric tons (MT) from the same period last year at almost 262,000 MT.

Despite an earlier harvest and higher prices than this time last year, farmers have not delivered as many peas to primary elevators as was the case last year. Those are down almost 500,000 MT at just over 934,000.
