Yield Debates Underway in Pulses
PANAMA - Aug 26/17 - SNS -- Canadian pulse markets are certain of one thing: this year's yields will be below average. The argument is over the degree of change.
Statistics Canada will release its take on crop production levels in its August 31 crop report. Based on surveys at the end of the July and beginning of August, the numbers are more likely to stimulate rather than end debate over the size of the crop.
Markets will also pay close attention to the update for seeded area. The original seeded area survey was completed while farmers will still in the field, with the result it is a combination of actual and intended plantings.
