MELBOURNE - Aug 20/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system just west of Kangaroo Island early on Monday morning will move northeastwards and weaken to be centred just south of Adelaide around midday and over the northwest of Victoria late afternoon. A high will develop near the western border later on Monday, before moving eastwards over northern parts of the State. A weak front will move across southern coasts Wednesday morning. Forecast for the rest of MondayA slight to medium chance of showers south of about Leigh Creek, tending to a high chance about central districts south of Clare. Possible early morning thunderstorm over Lower Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and southern Yorke Peninsula. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the far north. Moderate northeasterly winds in the southeast, tending light and variable later. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds elsewhere east of Port Lincoln to Coober Pedy, strong about south central coasts, shifting west to southwest from the west, strong at first about western coasts and during the day on the Flinders Ranges.Tuesday 22 AugustEarly fog patches. A slight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, more likely about southern coasts and ranges. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north. Light and variable winds, tending moderate westerly in the south, fresh about southern coasts.Wednesday 23 AugustEarly frost and fog patches in the northern agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts. A slight chance of showers over the northern agricultural area and a medium to high chance over the southern agricultural area. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north. Light winds, tending moderate westerly in the south, fresh about southern coasts, then turning southerly during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 24 August Fine apart from the slight chance of showers south of about Adelaide. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north with mainly light winds. Light to moderate southerly winds, tending westerly south of about Adelaide. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the south of the Pastoral districts, 1 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, with possible falls reaching 15 to 20 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges south of the Barossa Valley. Friday until SundayA medium chance of showers in the far northwest until Sunday. A slight chance of showers south of about Gawler, increasing to a medium chance over Kangaroo Island the the Lower South East on Saturday.
