MELBOURNE - Aug 20/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over Victoria will drift away to the northeast tonight. A cold front and associated low pressure system over the Bight will weaken as they move across the State on Monday. A ridge of high pressure will extend over Victoria on Tuesday as another front approaches from the southwest. The cold front will cross southern Victoria on Wednesday while a high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge over Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayCloud increasing from the west with isolated showers over western border parts, extending eastwards during the evening and reaching central districts overnight. Showers increasing to rain at times over the far west during the evening. Light winds tending northerly across western districts.Monday 21 AugustAreas of morning frost about the east. Scattered showers, contracting to the east and northwest during the day then clearing later. Snowfalls above 900 metres. A cold and mostly cloudy day with mainly moderate northerly winds.Tuesday 22 AugustMorning fog and frost in the north and east. Isolated showers over the southwest coast, extending inland over southwestern districts during the afternoon and evening and becoming scattered near the coast. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 23 AugustScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with isolated showers over the northwest and east Gippsland. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day. Moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south, shifting west to southwesterly during the day.Thursday 24 AugustIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, tending scattered near the coast. Dry over the northern plains.
