MELBOURNE - Aug 19/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near the eastern border will move eastwards to be centred over the eastern states by this afternoon allowing a low pressure system near the WA border to move to a position south of the Bight today, and then over the south of the State on Monday. Another high will develop near the western border later Monday before moving eastwards over northern parts of the State through to mid-week. Forecast for the rest of SundayA cold morning about central and eastern parts of the State with areas of frost. Showers will develop over western districts during the morning, extending to eastern districts in the afternoon or evening, with a slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area and southern Pastoral districts, increasing to a medium to high chance over the southern agricultural area. A cool to cold and cloudy day, but tending mostly sunny and mild to warm in the far north. Light east to northeasterly winds in the east during the morning, but freshening from the west, fresh to strong at times in the west during the morning. Winds shifting moderate to fresh west to southwesterly over western parts from the west during the day.Monday 21 AugustA slight to medium chance of showers about the northern agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing further south to a high to very high chance of showers over the southern agricultural area. Showers easing in the afternoon. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the far north. Mainly moderate northerly winds about central and eastern parts at first, ahead of moderate to fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout.Tuesday 22 AugustEarly fog patches in the west and about the ranges north of about Clare. A slight to medium chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, more likely near southern coasts and in the Lower South East. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north. Mainly light winds, tending moderate west to northwesterly in the south.Wednesday 23 August Early frost and fog patches in the west and parts of the northern agricultural area. A slight to medium chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, more likely near southern coasts and ranges and in the Lower South East. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north. Mainly light winds, tending light to moderate southwest to northwesterly in the south. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Wednesday are expected to be less than 2 mm over the south of the Pastoral districts, 1 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, with possible falls reaching 15 to 25 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges south of the Barossa Valley. Thursday until SaturdayFine apart from the slight chance of a shower near southern coasts, and in the far northwest.
