Bulk Chickpea Update For Canada

PANAMA - Aug 19/17 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports no bulk chickpeas were exported through reporting terminals and primary elevators between August 7 to 13.

No chickpeas were loaded for bulk export since the start of the 2017-18 marketing year, compared to 200 metric tons (MT) during the previous marketing year.

Farmers delivered 100 MT of chickpeas to primary elevators during the week. This lifts season to date deliveries by farmers to 500 MT, compared to 400 MT during the same period last season.

Elevators and terminals reported selling no bulk chickpeas to domestic buyers during the week. So far this season, sales total 200 MT, compared to 200 MT during the same period last season.

Commercial stocks of chickpeas total 6,100 MT in primary elevators. There are no chickpeas in transit by rail to Canadian ports, compared to none the previous week.

For chickpeas in primary elevators: 2,600 MT are located in Manitoba; 3,400 MT in Saskatchewan; and 100 MT in Alberta.
