Durum Wheat Number Slashed

WASHINGTON - Aug 10/17 - SNS -- Durum wheat production in the United States is forecast at 50.5 million bushels, down 12% from the July 1 forecast and down 51% from 2016, according to the latest USDA production estimate's of the season.

The United States yield is forecast at 27.2 bushels per acre, down 3.7 bushels from last month and down 16.8 bushels from last year. Expected area to be harvested for grain or seed totals 1.86 million acres, unchanged from last month but down 21% from last year.
