Oat Crop Seen Sinking 17%

WASHINGTON - Aug 10/17 - SNS -- Oat production in the U.S. is forecast at 53.7 million bushels, up slightly from the July 1 forecast but down 17% from 2016, according to the latest USDA production estimate's of the season.

Growers expect to harvest 880,000 acres for grain or seed, unchanged from July but down 10% from last year. Based on conditions as of August 1, the United States yield is forecast at 61.0 bushels per acre, unchanged from the July 1 forecast but 5 bushels below the 2016 average yield.
