Modest Gain in Bulk Mustard Movement

PANAMA - Jul 30/17 - SNS -- Available data on bulk exports of Canadian mustard seed suggest the marketing year will end with a modest increase over last season.

Total shipments may reach 22,900 metric tons (MT), up from 22,300 last season, but down from the 23,100 loaded during the 2014-15 marketing campaign. The best season for bulk mustard seed clearances was 2000-01, when bulk clearances totalled 46,345 MT.

Most bulk export movement through the primary and terminal elevator system is to buyers in the United States. CGC data through the end of June shows 4,700 MT of No 1 Canada and 9,900 MT of other grades went to that country; while 6,900 MT of No 1 Canada mustard seed was loaded to ships at Thunder Bay for Belgium.
