Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 22/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over southeastern Australia maintains a firm ridge and a dry, cool air mass over most of Queensland. The high will drift slowly north over New South Wales during the weekend with winds tending slightly more onshore about the central and northern east Queensland coast. Fine and sunny conditions will persist over most of the state through the outlook period. Morning frosts will be extensive through inland parts of southern, central and western districts over the next few mornings. Temperatures will then warm early next week over much of the state, particularly the interior.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine and clear. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, tending fresh southeasterly about the far northeast tropical coast.Sunday 23 JulySlight chance of showers about exposed coast and islands north of the Sunshine Coast. Fine and sunny across the rest of the state with extensive morning frosts again likely through inland parts of southern, central and western districts. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, tending fresh southeasterly about the far northeast tropical coast.Monday 24 JulyA belt of high pressure will extend over much of southern Australia into southern Queensland. A weak surface trough will move off the southern coast in the morning, with conditions again drying further through southern Queensland in its wake. Fine and sunny conditions will persist over the interior and southeastern Queensland. Morning frosts should become confined to the Carnarvon ranges and through the southern interior. Maximum temperatures will increase further over much of the state, with a particularly warm day (for July) expected in the west. An onshore wind flow will result in the slight chance of showers about the east coast north of Mackay, mostly over the northeastern tropics.Tuesday 25 JulyThe belt of high pressure across southern Queensland will extend a ridge along the northeastern Queensland coast with a slight chance of showers about the east tropical coast, most likely in the early morning and then again in the evening. Fine and sunny conditions will continue across the rest of the state with a chance of morning frosts about the Carnarvon ranges and southern interior. Daytime temperatures will remain above the July average across most of the state, especially the interior.Wednesday 26 JulyThe belt of high pressure across southern Queensland will continue as a new high pressure system moves into South Australia. A ridge will continue to extend through the Queensland and along the east tropical coast, with a slight to medium chance of showers over northeast Queensland. Fine and sunny conditions will continue across the rest of the state with a chance of morning frosts about the Carnarvon ranges and southern interior. Daytime temperatures will remain above the July average across most of the state, especially the interior.Thursday until SaturdayThe high pressure system over South Australia will move northeast and reach southeastern Queensland during the outlook period, with fine and mostly sunny conditions persisting over most of the state. An onshore wind flow will result in the slight to medium chance of showers about parts of the east coast and nearby inland near and north of Townsville and possibly extending to exposed parts of coast in the southeast on Friday. Minimum temperatures will likely gradually increase though some morning frosts will remain possible over the southeastern interior, Maranoa and Carnarvon Ranges. Maximum temperatures will remain above the July average, particularly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Sunday.Product IDQ10700
