Almonds Helped by Cool Spring

WASHINGTON - Jul 12/17 - SNS -- The 2017 California almond production (shelled basis) is forecast at 2.25 billion pounds, up 2% from the previous forecast and 5% above the 2016 production of 2.14 billion pounds, according to the latest USDA crop forecast.

The 2017 bloom period was extended due to cold temperatures. Significant rainfall before and during bloom made the application of sprays difficult but was beneficial to the crop overall.
