Mustard Area In Whip Saw Pattern

PANAMA - Jul 2/17 - SNS -- Mustard seed plantings in Canada continued their whip saw action this season, with area plunging from 525,000 to 380,000 acres, according to Statistics Canada.

Breaking down seeded area by province, Statistics Canada said farmers in Saskatchewan reduced area from 390,000 to 310,000 acres, including 70,000 acres of brown; 100,000 oriental and 140,000 acres of yellow.

Seeded area in Alberta dropped from 135,000 to 70,000 acres, with farmers indicating they planted 2,000 acres of brown; 3,000 oriental and 65,000 yellow.
