Little Change in Canaryseed Area

PANAMA - Jul 2/17 - SNS -- Statistics Canada believes farmers in Saskatchewan reduced land in canaryseed from 260,000 to 255,000 acres.

The estimates remain controversial, with many market participants believing Canadian farmers planted more than estimated in each of the most recent three years.

Canaryseed production is only reported for Saskatchewan. Farmers say they are growing 95,000 acres of hairless glabrous type and 160,000 acres of regular canaryseed, compared to 85,000 and 175,000 acres respectively last year.
