WASHINGTON - Jun 30/17 - SNS -- Harvested area of sugarcane for sugar and seed in the United States is forecast at 872,100 acres for the 2017 crop year, down 3% from last year, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2017.
Louisiana experienced a good spring for cultivation and applying fertilizer and herbicides. Stubble crops were also reported in good shape because of a mild winter, but there was some failed acres due to a dry fall.
