Chickpea Tone Stays Firm

PANAMA - Jun 24/17 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, with supplies available from exporters remaining behind the short term needs of buyers.

Crops are developing reasonable well in Canada and the United States. However, in its latest crop progress report, Saskatchewan Agriculture noted that 30% of all pulse crops are behind normal development, with 35% of pulses in the southwestern part of the province behind normal development.

Canada is not an important supplier, but with the world still fundamentally short of product, markets are paying close attention to any issues.
