Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 23/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over the east of the continent is expected to move slowly northwards an weaken over the next few days. A high pressure system west of Perth will extend a ridge over the State during the weekend and early next week. An upper level trough over WA will extend showers and patchy rain over the western and northern parts of the State over the next several days. A weak trough will move over the west of the State on Saturday followed by further troughs over the far south on Sunday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayA slight to medium chance of showers and patchy rain over the south of the pastorals, northern Eyre Peninsula, the Flinders and north of the Mid North districts. A slight to medium chance of showers about southern coasts and the Lower South East. Light to moderate northeast to northerly tending southwesterly in the far south and west.Saturday 24 JuneCold at first in the Riverland with patchy morning frost. The chance of morning fog over the agricultural areas and south of the North West Pastoral district. A slight to medium chance of a shower south of about Broken Hill to Coober Pedy, tending to rain and increasing to a medium to high chance about western parts of the North West Pastoral district. Mild in the far north but cool over remaining parts with mainly light winds.Sunday 25 JuneSlight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to a medium to high chance of about the coasts and ranges. A medium to high chance of showers northwest of Leigh Creek, tending to rain in the the west. The chance of morning fog over the agricultural area. Cold at first in parts with morning frost patches then a cool to mild day with moderate southwest to southerly winds extending throughout.Monday 26 JuneA slight to medium chance of showers persisting south of about Cummins to Nuriootpa and also extending over western and northern parts of the State, west of about Streaky Bay to Leigh Creek more likely in the far northwest. Cold at first in parts with morning frost patches then generally cool with moderate southerly winds.Tuesday 27 June
The chance of showers over most parts of the State, more likely about the southern coasts and ranges and the west coast of Eyre Peninsula. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over most parts of the agricultural area, West Coast district and the North East Pastoral district, increasing to 5 to 20 mm over the North West pastoral district with some possible local falls possibly reaching 20 to 30 mm in the far west. Local falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible over the west of the West Coast district. Less than 2 mm is expected over the Riverland, Eastern Eyre Peninsula and eastern parts of the North East Pastoral district.
Wednesday until FridayThe chance of showers in the far northwest, the southern agricultural area and western coasts, and remaining parts of the State east of Port Augusta, contracting to the agricultural area and western coasts on Thursday and south of Adelaide on Friday. Cold mornings over the agricultural area with areas of frost. Cool to mild with mainly light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds becoming east to northeasterly on Friday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Saturday.Product IDS10033
