MELBOURNE - Jun 22/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge over Victoria will drift northwards today as a cold front approaches from the southwest. The front will reach far southwest Victoria later this afternoon before passing through Bass Strait tonight and early Saturday morning. Another cold front will pass through Bass Strait later Sunday, then a ridge of high pressure over the Bight will extend across northern Victoria on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of morning frost in the north and east. Fog areas contracting to the north and far east by late morning before clearing during the afternoon. Patchy fog redeveloping over the northeast tonight. Isolated showers developing near the southwest coast during the late afternoon before extending over remaining southern and mountain districts during the evening. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, locally fresh in the south and later shifting southwesterly from the west.Saturday 24 JuneAreas of morning fog in the northeast. Mostly cloudy with isolated showers extending throughout and falling as snow over Alpine areas. A cool day with generally light winds.Sunday 25 JunePartly cloudy with isolated showers, more widespread about the southwest coast and over the northeast ranges and falling as snow over Alpine areas. Moderate northwest to westerly winds, fresh at times along the coast.Monday 26 JuneIsolated showers mainly over southern and mountain districts, falling as snow over Alpine areas.
