Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 22/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over the southeast of the continent is expected to move slowly northeastwards over the next few days. Showers and patchy rain associated with an upper level trough over WA will extending over the south of the State during Friday and Saturday then over the west and north from Sunday. A weak low pressure trough will move across South Australia from the west during Saturday. Another high pressure system will develop to the southwest of WA early next week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA slight chance of showers developing west of Nullarbor this evening. Mostly light northerly winds.Friday 23 JuneCold at first with morning frost, particularly on and east of the ranges. High cloud increasing from the west during the day with a slight to medium chance of showers extending from the west reaching central districts by the end of the day. A slight to medium chance of Showers about southern coasts and the Lower South East. Showers increasing to a medium to high chance west of about Ceduna. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northerly winds ahead of a moderate southwesterly change in the far south during the day.Saturday 24 JuneA slight to medium chance of a shower south of about Broken Hill to Roxby Downs. Mild in the far north but cool over remaining parts with mainly light winds.Sunday 25 JuneSlight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to a medium to high chance of showers about the coasts and ranges. A medium to high chance of showers northwest of Coober Pedy. Cold at first in parts with morning frost patches then a cool to mild day with moderate southwest to southerly winds extending throughout.Monday 26 June
A slight to medium chance of showers persisting south of about Adelaide and also extending over western and northern parts of the State, west of about Ceduna to Moomba to Ernabella/Pukatja, more likely in the far northwest. Generally cool with moderate southerly winds becoming light and variable mid-week.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over most parts of the agricultural area, West Coast district and the pastoral districts, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the west of the North West pastoral. Less than 2 mm is expected over remaining parts, including the Riverland, Murraylands and parts of Eyre Peninsula.
Tuesday until ThursdayCold mornings with areas of frost. The chance of showers over most parts of the State, contracting to the agricultural areas and southern pastorals on Thursday. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds tending northwest to southwesterly winds in the west during the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
