MELBOURNE - May 27/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge to the east of the State will drift eastwards this evening while a strong cold front will reach far western Victoria tonight. The cold front will sweep across the State early Sunday. A weak high pressure ridge will move across the State on Monday as another strong cold front develops over the Bight. The front will cross the State on Tuesday with a cold and unstable southwesterly airstream to follow. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers over the northern slopes of the Divide. Scattered showers over western districts extending to central districts later this evening. Isolated thunderstorms over the far southwest at first, extending to remaining western districts this evening. Cloudy with freshening northerly winds.Sunday 28 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, most extensive about the eastern ranges and southwest coast. Showers tending isolated over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail in the south and east with snowfalls developing above 900 metres. A cool to cold day with fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong at times near the coast and over elevated areas.Monday 29 MayEarly fog and frost patches in the north. Isolated showers mainly across southern and mountain areas and tending scattered about the southwest coast and northeast ranges. Snowfalls above 900 metres at first, rising to 1500 metres during the day. A cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 30 MayEarly fog and frost patches in the north. Scattered showers, most extensive over southern and mountain districts, contracting to the south and eastern ranges in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms and hail on and south of the divide with snowfalls above 1500 metres at first but lowering to 900 metres during the evening. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with fresh and gusty northwesterly winds tending southwesterly during the day.Wednesday 31 MayEarly fog and frost patches in the north. Isolated showers across southern and mountain districts, generally contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Cool, dry and partly cloudy over the north.
