Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 26/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near the east coast of Australia is moving eastwards. A cold front will move across the west and south of the State during Saturday. A colder west to southwesterly airstream will persist over the south of the State on Sunday in the wake of the front, with a high pressure ridge developing over the north. Another cold front will approach southern and western coasts late Monday evening and move rapidly over the State early Tuesday, to be followed by a strong high pressure system developing over the Bight later Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayA slight chance of a shower near the Lower South East coast and in the far northwest. A cool to mild evening with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.Saturday 27 MayShowers developing near western and southern coasts towards midday associated with a cold front, extending eastwards during the afternoon, with a slight to medium chance of showers expected over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to high to very high chance of showers over the southern agricultural area. The chance of a thunderstorm developing near southern coasts and in the Lower South East. Becoming cooler in the south, grading to warm in the north. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh in the south, shifting fresh to strong west to southwesterly following the front.Sunday 28 MayA slight to medium chance of showers about the northern agricultural area, south of the North West Pastoral and West Coast district, increasing to a high to very high chance over the southern agricultural area. The chance of a thunderstorm and small hail in the Lower South East till evening. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the far north with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, tending moderate southwest to southeasterly in the far north.Monday 29 MayA slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, less likely in the north, but increasing to a high to very high chance over parts of the southern agricultural area. Cool to cold with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending west to northwesterly over the agricultural area, freshening in the south later.Tuesday 30 May
Another cold front extending from the west early Tuesday with the slight to medium chance of showers persisting over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to a high chance over the southern agricultural area, however showers easing during the day. Possible thunderstorms and small hail over the South East districts during the morning. Cool to cold with winds becoming moderate southwest to southeasterly throughout early Tuesday, fresh in the south, then easing during the afternoon and evening.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 2 mm over the Pastoral, Riverland and northern parts of the Eastern Eyre Peninsula districts, 2 to 10 mm over the remainder of the northern agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, possibly reaching 20 to 40 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges south of the Barossa Valley and in the Lower South East.
Wednesday until FridayFine. Cold nights with areas of frost possible. Mostly light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Saturday.Product IDS10033
