Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 25/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the north of the State will move slowly eastwards to be off the east coast of Australia early on Saturday. A weak front will move across southern coasts later Thursday, followed by a stronger cold front moving across the west and south of the State during Saturday. A colder west to southwesterly airstream will persist over the south of the State on Sunday in the wake of the front, with a high pressure ridge developing over the north. Another cold front will approach southern and western coasts late Monday evening.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA slight to medium chance of showers about southern coasts and ranges and over the South East districts. Cool to mild evening with mostly light winds.Friday 26 MayA slight chance of showers about southern coasts. Morning fog areas about the agricultural area, Flinders district and far south of the pastoral districts. Possible early frost patches over the ranges north of about Clare. Mild grading to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly.Saturday 27 MayShowers developing near western and southern coasts towards midday associated with a cold front, extending eastwards during the afternoon, with a slight to medium chance of showers expected over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to high chance of showers over most of the southern agricultural area. The slight chance of a thunderstorm developing near southern coasts and in the Lower South East. Becoming cooler in the south, grading to warm in the north. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh in the south, shifting fresh west to southwesterly following the front in the west and south during the day or evening.Sunday 28 MayA slight to medium chance of showers about the northern agricultural area, south of the North West Pastoral and West Coast district, increasing to a medium to high chance over the southern agricultural area. The chance of a thunderstorm and small hail in the Lower South East during the morning. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the far north with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, tending light to moderate south to southeasterly in the far north.Monday 29 May
A slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to a medium to high chance near southern coasts and ranges. Cool to cold with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending west to northwesterly over the agricultural area, freshening in the south later.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the Pastoral, Riverland and Eastern Eyre Peninsula districts, 1 to 5 mm over the remainder of the northern agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 10 to 30 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges south of the Barossa Valley and in the Lower South East.
Tuesday until ThursdayAnother cold front extending from the west early Tuesday with the slight to medium chance of showers persisting over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to a medium to high chance over the southern agricultural area. Showers then easing and contracting to the South East districts on Wednesday and the Lower South East on Thursday. Cool to cold on Tuesday with northwesterly winds shifting fresh southwesterly following the front, then winds easing during Wednesday and Thursday and becoming light and variable.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
