MELBOURNE - May 25/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the north of the State will move slowly eastwards to be off the east coast of Australia early on Saturday. A weak front will move across southern coasts today followed by a stronger front moving across the west and south of the State during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA slight to medium chance of showers extending over the southern agricultural area, south of about Adelaide, increasing to a high to very high chance in the Lower South East, Kangaroo Island and about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges. A slight to medium chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm northwest of about Marla, more likely in the far northwest. Morning fog over the parts of the agricultural area. Mild grading to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh near southern coasts till early afternoon, tending light and variable in the north.Friday 26 MayA slight chance of showers about southern coasts and in the Lower South East. Morning fog areas about the agricultural area to the east and south of Yorke Peninsula. Possible early frost patches over the ranges north of about Clare. Mild grading to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly, fresh at times in the south, shifting west to southwesterly in the south.Saturday 27 MayShowers increasing from the west associated with a cold front, with a slight to medium chance of showers expected over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to high chance of showers near southern coasts and ranges and in the Lower South East. The slight chance of a thunderstorm near southern coasts. Becoming cooler in the south, grading to warm in the north. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh in the south, shifting west to southwesterly in the west and south during the day or evening.Sunday 28 May A slight to medium chance of showers about agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to a medium to high chance over the southern agricultural area. The chance of a thunderstorm in the Lower South East during the morning. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the far north with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, tending light to moderate south to southeasterly in the far north. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 2 mm over the Pastoral, Riverland and Eastern Eyre Peninsula districts, with 2 to 5 mm over the remainder of the northern agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 10 to 20 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges south of the Barossa Valley and in the Lower South East. Monday until WednesdayA slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, contracting southwards on Tuesday to be confined to the Lower South East on Wednesday. Cool in the south grading to mild to warm in the north and west.
