MELBOURNE - Apr 26/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea along with a high over the Bight are directing a cold southerly airflow over Victoria which will ease on Thursday. A weak front will pass across Tasmania on Thursday night while the high remains over the Bight during Friday and Saturday. The high will extend a ridge over Victoria on Sunday as a cold front moves into the Bight. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers contracting to southern and mountain areas during the early evening and becoming more isolated. Local hail possible, mainly near the coast. Snowfall possible above 1200 metres. Fresh to strong and gusty south to southwesterly winds moderating this evening.Thursday 27 AprilMorning frost patches in the northeast. Scattered showers over southern and mountain districts. Snow possible about Alpine peaks above 1300 metres during the morning. Generally dry for the northern plains. A cool to cold day with moderate southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Friday 28 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, with isolated showers extending over the north during the afternoon. A cool day with west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Saturday 29 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, with isolated showers extending over the northern plains during the afternoon. A cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate southwesterly winds.Sunday 30 AprilFine apart from the slight chance of a shower over the southwest and central districts.
