Movement Supports Pea Values
PANAMA - Apr 15/17 - SNS -- Field pea markets continue to be supported by strong export movement, with all major exporting nations showing significant increases over last season.
This is exemplified by the pace of deliveries by farmers into Canada's bulk handling system. By the end of the first week of April they had delivered 71% of last year's crop, compared to 72% during the same period the previous season.
Looking at the estimated movement through seed cleaning plants and the quantity of peas that will be used as planting seed, an argument can be made that farmers have effectively sold 81% of their crop, compared to 88% at this time last season.
