MELBOURNE - Mar 28/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will enter southwest Victoria Wednesday afternoon, reaching central districts during the evening and crossing the remainder of the State Wednesday night, leaving a cool southerly airflow across the State on Thursday. A ridge of high pressure will extend over northern Victoria on Friday, then a weak cold front crossing the Southern Ocean will clip southern Victoria on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayEarly fogs over Gippsland. Fine, warm and mostly sunny elsewhere during the morning, but cloud increasing and scattered showers extending from the far southwest during the afternoon, reaching central districts during the evening, but remaining dry over the far north and east. Moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler, gusty southwesterly.Fire Danger - Generally high, but reaching very high in the Mallee.Thursday 30 MarchScattered showers for southern and mountain areas, gradually easing during the day. Dry and partly cloudy over the northern plains. A mild day with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Friday 31 MarchIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mainly near the coast. Dry and mostly sunny over the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 1 AprilScattered light showers over southern and mountain districts, but fine over much of the north.
