MELBOURNE - Mar 27/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast. A trough which brought a gusty southerly change to southern and western districts overnight is forecast to stall and weaken over central parts today. A fairly weak pressure pattern should then remain over the region until another trough, along with an associated cold front, sweeps across the state during Thursday and Friday. This system looks set to bring rain to eastern districts, potentially heavy, before moving away to the east on the weekend. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayChance of a shower or two about the southern ranges and adjacent coast. An afternoon shower and possible thunderstorm about the central and northern ranges. Northerly winds in the northeast, and southeast to southwesterly winds elsewhere. Hot day in the northwest.Wednesday 29 MarchFine across the south and west. The odd shower or two elsewhere in the afternoon and a possible thunderstorm about the central and northern ranges. Northwest to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast and in the south. Winds turning southwesterly in the west later. Hot day in the northwest.Thursday 30 MarchShowers or rain areas in the east, possibly heavy about the coast and tablelands. The chance of a thunderstorm in the northeast. A few showers in central parts, clearing during the day. Fine in the west. Northerly winds in the northeast, with fresh southerly winds extending through the remainder, strong and gusty along the coast.Friday 31 MarchShowers or rain areas in the far northeast, possibly heavy, and the risk of thunderstorms. A shower or two about southern and central parts of the coast. Fine elsewhere.
