Japan Proposes MRLs For Ag Chemicals

WASHINGTON - Feb 23/17 - SNS -- Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) is planning to change maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the pesticides Isofetamid, Sulfoxaflor, Famoxadone, and Fenazaquin.

Where MRLs are not established, Japan allows residues of 0.01 parts per million (PPM). In the case of pulses, the changes create an MRL of 0.05 ppm for Isofetamid in dry soybeans, dry beans, field peas, broadbeans and other pulses.

In the case of Sulfoxaflor, MRLs will be set at 0.3 ppm for dry soybeans and 0.2 ppm for broadbeans. An MRL of 0.2 ppm will be set for Famoxadone in dry soybeans.

Japan defines dry beans as including butter beans, cowbeans (red beans), lentil, lima beans, pegia, sultani,

sultapya. Other legumes/pulses refers to all legumes/pulses, except soybeans (dry), beans (dry), peas,

broad beans, peanuts (dry), and spices.
