MELBOURNE - Jan 18/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough extends from northwestern Australia across northwestern and central New South Wales. The trough will move west tonight and on Thursday as a high pressure system moves across the Tasman Sea, before deepening and moving northeast during Friday as a cold passes to the south of the state. During Saturday another high pressure system will move over the southern Tasman Sea extending a ridge along the coast and the trough is expected to move west and weaken. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMedium to high chance of showers across the northern inland with the chance of thunderstorms. Slight to medium chance of showers and the chance of thunderstorms across the far southwestern inland late this afternoon or this evening. Mostly cloudy along the coast and adjacent ranges with a slight to medium chance of light showers or drizzle. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Milder along the coast but remaining hot in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, variable winds in the west.Fire Danger - Very High: North Western.Friday 20 JanuaryHigh to very high chance of showers with chance of thunderstorms. Hot in the northwest. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change spreading through the west and southeast.Saturday 21 JanuarySlight to medium chance of showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast.
