Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 18/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to pass to the south of Tasmania during Thursday. A low pressure trough will deepen over South Australia during Thursday before approaching western Victoria at night. The trough will cross Victoria on Friday, with a low pressure centre expected to develop along the trough as it moves rapidly eastwards across the State. The low will move across the Tasman Sea on Saturday as the next high pressure system approaches from the west. The high will drift to the east of Tasmania during Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Thursday 19 JanuaryFine over most districts during the day, but scattered showers developing in the west during the the late afternoon before reaching central areas at night. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the far northwest at night. Mild in the south and warmer in the north. Southeasterly winds becoming light inland, but fresh easterly winds developing along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Generally High.Friday 20 JanuaryRain areas contracting eastwards across the State during the morning and early afternoon with isolated showers to follow over southern and mountain districts. Cool to mild with winds tending fresh to strong southwesterly.Saturday 21 JanuaryFine apart from isolated early morning showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Mild over the south and warm across the north with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Sunday 22 JanuaryA fine and mostly sunny day after local early fog in Gippsland. Warm inland with light winds. Milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
