Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 17/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high is over the Tasman Sea and a trough is located over central New South Wales, directing a hot northerly airstream over the state. This trough is forecast to move north in response to a cold front slipping south of the state, bringing a milder southerly change to western and southern districts. The change should move through the remainder of the state on Thursday, although high temperatures will remain over the northwest. Following the change, another high pressure system will move across southern Australian and over the Bight, before the next trough is expected on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayHot to very hot across most of the state. Isolated showers extending across the north and central districts with the chance of a shower also along the southern coast. Isolated thunderstorms across much of the north and central districts. Fresh to strong west to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder southerly change extending through the south in the morning and central parts during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  EXTREME in Southern Ranges. SEVERE in Greater Sydney Region, Illawarra/Shoalhaven, Central Ranges, and Southern Slopes fire districts. VERY HIGH for the majority of the remainder.Thursday 19 JanuaryHot to very hot in the west, milder along the coast. Isolated showers in the north and along the coast. Chance of thunderstorms in the north. Variable winds in the west, tending westerly across the far north, and east to southeasterly winds along the coast.Friday 20 JanuaryShowers in most districts tending to rain in the south. Isolated thunderstorms in northern and central parts. Hot in the northwest. Milder elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change spreading through the west and south.Saturday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the northeast.
