Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 16/17 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high is over the Tasman Sea and a trough is located over northern inland New South Wales. The trough is expected to weaken and the high will continue directing a hot northerly airstream over the state today. A cold front and associated trough of low pressure is expected to move through the west and south of New South Wales during Wednesday, bringing a milder southerly change. The change should move through the remainder of the state on Thursday, although high temperatures will remain over the northwest.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayHot to very hot inland and in some eastern districts. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm over the inland, mostly in the north. Chance of a shower over the northern ranges. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong across the south, with sea breezes along the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High for the Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Illawarra, Far South Coast, Monaro, ACT, Southern and Central Ranges, North Western, Lower Central West Plains, Southern Slopes, Eastern, Northern and Southern Riverina and Far Western fire districts.Wednesday 18 JanuaryHot to very hot across most of the state. Isolated showers extending across the north and central districts with the chance of a shower also along the southern coast. Isolated thunderstorms across much of the north. Fresh west to northwesterly winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change extending across the south.Thursday 19 JanuaryHot to very hot in the west, milder along the coast. Isolated showers in the north and along the coast. Chance of thunderstorms in the north. Variable winds in the west, tending westerly across the far north, and east to southeasterly winds along the coast.Friday 20 JanuaryShowers in most districts. Isolated thunderstorms in northern and central parts. Hot in the northwest. Milder elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change spreading through the west and south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031
