MELBOURNE - Dec 6/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough extends from northwestern Australia into southeastern New South Wales. The trough will move to the northeast during Thursday as a cold front crosses the west and southeast of the state and a high pressure system moves east south of the Bight extending a ridge behind it. The high is expected to continue to move slowly east during Friday and Saturday, strengthening the ridge along the coast and the trough should weaken further. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPartly cloudy in the southwest. Medium to high chance of showers elsewhere with the chance of thunderstorms in the northern and central parts. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 7 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers in the northeast. Slight chance of showers on the southern half of the coast and ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 8 DecemberHigh chance of rain and showers with the chance of thunderstorms, contracting northeast. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a southwest change in the west.Friday 9 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Slight chance of showers on the south coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southerly winds extending throughout.Saturday 10 DecemberSlight of showers on the north and central coasts. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
