Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 5/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system in the Bight will move eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea during Wednesday. A cold front will move over the State during Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, followed by another high pressure system developing south of the Bight on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondaySlight to medium chance of showers extending over areas north of about Wudinna to Renmark, grading to a high chance of showers north and west of about Tarcoola. Possible thunderstorms over the pastoral districts, West Coast, the Flinders district, and the north of the Riverland district, becoming more likely and gusty in the northwest of the State. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Generally light winds, tending moderate southwest to southeasterly winds in the south.Tuesday 6 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers extending across most parts north of about Ceduna to Renmark and southwest of about Ceduna to Kingscote, increasing to a high to very high chance of showers with scattered thunderstorms north of about Nullarbor to Hawker to Broken Hill. Mild to warm in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Generally light winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Wednesday 7 DecemberA slight to medium chance of showers across the far north and west, extending eastwards during the day to reach the eastern border south of Renmark later in the day, increasing to a high chance of showers about the North West Pastoral, West Coast, and Eyre Peninsula districts during the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms possible over the far north, and also developing about the remainder of the North West Pastoral, West Coast, and Eyre Peninsula districts during the afternoon and evening. Warm in the south grading hot in north and west. Light winds becoming moderate north to northwesterly during the day ahead of a cooler fresh to strong southwesterly change reaching a line Oak Valley to Ceduna to Port Lincoln in the late evening.Thursday 8 DecemberA medium to high chance of showers and possible thunderstorms east of about Coober Pedy to Kingscote contracting eastwards during the day, with showers continuing about the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild, tending to warm to hot in the northeast. Moderate north to northwesterly winds ahead of a fresh to strong southwesterly change near Coober Pedy to Adelaide early in the morning extending throughout during the day, tending moderate southerly in the west during the afternoon and evening.Friday 9 December
A slight chance of showers about coasts, more likely in the southeast. Cool to mild with moderate southeast to southwesterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday are expected to be highly variable, but generally range between 2 to 10 mm increasing to 10 to 20 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges, with isolated falls of 10 to 50 mm associated with the heavier showers and thunderstorms in the Pastoral districts.
Saturday until MondayA slight chance of showers about the Lower South East coast on Saturday and northeast of Moomba on Sunday and Monday. Mild in the south and warm in the north on Saturday, with temperatures rising to be hot throughout on Monday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
