Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 5/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough extends from northwestern Australia into southeastern New South Wales. This trough will move to the northeast during Thursday as a cold front crosses the west and southeast of the state and a high pressure system moves east, over the southern Bight extending a ridge behind it. The high is expected to continue to move slowly east during Friday and Saturday, strengthening the ridge along the coast and the trough should weaken further.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMedium to high chance of showers with the chance of thunderstorms. Thunderstorms more likely in the afternoon in the northeast. Hot in the north. West to southwest winds inland, tending north to northwesterly in the northeast and south to southeasterly along the southern and central coasts.Fire Danger -  Very High in: Far North Coast, Northern Slopes and in Northwestern.Wednesday 7 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers in the northeast. Slight chance of showers on the southern half of the coast and ranges. The chance of thunderstorms on the north coast and ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds along the south coast extending to the north coast later. Light winds inland.Thursday 8 DecemberHigh chance of showers with the chance of thunderstorms. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a southwest change in the west.Friday 9 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Slight chance of showers on the south coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031
