MELBOURNE - Dec 4/16 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough extends from Queensland into western New South Wales. This trough is expected to be the dominant synoptic feature over the next few days, with only a weak front passing through southern parts of the State during Monday. This pattern will maintain hot conditions over the northern inland until Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast from the afternoon, most likely about the northern slopes and ranges. The chance of a shower or thunderstorm over the central ranges and west, with isolated showers extending to the southeast at night. Northwest to northeasterly winds, tending fresh in the far west.Monday 5 DecemberMedium chance of showers and the chance of thunderstorms through most areas, tending to rain in the south later. Thunderstorms more likely in the east, particularly over the northern ranges. Hot in the north. Northwest to northeasterly winds tending south to southwesterly in the south.Fire Danger - Severe: Upper Central West Plains; Very High: Far North Coast, Northern Slopes, North Western, Lower Central West Plains.Tuesday 6 DecemberMedium chance of showers with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms through most areas, less likely over the southern inland. High chance of rainfall through the central east, central west and far northwest. Hot in the north. Northwest to southwest winds in the west and along the ranges, northeast to south east along the coast.Wednesday 7 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers in the east and north, more likely in the northeast. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Easterly winds tending northwesterly later.Thursday 8 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers except for central parts of the coast. Showers more likely in the northeast and about the Alps. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast.
