Field Peas Maintain Tone
PANAMA - Dec 3/16 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading on a firm note against soli,d ongoing movement into export markets from the world's major suppliers.
This allowed markets to ignore indications India has a good chance to succeed in planting a record area to rabi or winter season pulses. Progress surged during the past week, with farmers planting 1.79 million hectares of pulses, according to the country's agriculture department.
This lifted total area in pulses to 11.295 million hectares, well above the 9.983 million sown by this time last year and 100,000 hectares above the recent five-year average.
