Birdseeds Unchanged to Firmer
PANAMA - Dec 3/16 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading unchanged to firmer.
Preliminary acreage forecasts from the USDA left sunflower markets unsettled because of the idea that soybean area could increase from 83.7 to 85.5 million acres in 2017.
Interestingly, the USDA thinks land in the country's eight major crops could drop from 254.1 to 248.9 million acres mainly due to lower wheat and corn area. That brings with it the possibility for increases in sunflower and pulses as farmers look for alternative uses for their land.
