SASKATOON - Dec 1/16 - SNS -- Pulse growers in Saskatchewan elected Brad Blackwell of Dinsmore, Jackie Carleton of Saskatoon, and Lee Moats of Riceton to three-year terms to the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) Board of Directors.

Brad Blackwell operates a family farm at Dinsmore where they grow 8,000 acres of wheat, malt barley, flax, and red lentils. Pulses account for approximately 40% of their acres.

Jackie Carleton manages and operates a 4,000-acre farm with her husband in Bracken. Peas and lentils account for one-third of their crop rotation.

Lee Moats operates a farm near Riceton with his wife and son. Lentils account for 33 per cent of their cropping system, along with winter cereals and canola. Lee has served on SPG Board since 2011.

The new Board members will assume responsibility following SPG’s 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, January 9, at Prairieland Park during CropSphere 2017. Growers do not need to be registered for CropSphere to attend SPG’s AGM.
