WASHINGTON - Nov 9/16 - SNS -- Sorghum production in the United States is forecast at 462 million bushels, down 1% from last month and down 23% from last year, according to the USDA.
Area harvested for grain is forecast at 6.05 million acres, unchanged from the October forecast but down 23% from 2015.
Based on November 1 conditions, yield is forecast at 76.5 bushels per acre, down 0.7 bushel from last month but up 0.5 bushel from last year. If realized, this will be the highest yield on record for the United States. A record high yield is expected in Kansas.
