Sugarcane Harvest Up 4%

WASHINGTON - Nov 9/16 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2016 is forecast at 33.5 million tons, down 1% from the October 1 forecast but up 4% from last year, according to the USDA.

Producers intend to harvest 914,600 acres for sugar and seed during the 2016 crop year, unchanged from the previous forecast but up 3% from last year. Expected yield for sugar and seed is forecast at 36.7 tons per acre, up 0.3 ton from 2015.
