Peas Stay Focussed on Shipping
PANAMA - Oct 29/16 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against ongoing export movement.
This is clearly evident in Canada, with the quantity of bulk peas loaded to ships between August and October 23 setting new records, with clearances up almost 220,000 metric tons (MT) from last year at 1.33 million.
Assuming Statistics Canada's ending stocks and production estimates are correct, the bulk handling system has exported 27% of all peas available in the first 12 weeks of the 2016-17 marketing year, compared to 31% during the same period last year.
